Upon retirement, I began writing novels which is more taxing intellectually than writing textbooks, and much more fun. There's just no way to include sex scenes in a book on teaching reading! However, the thought of my children reading such scenes is a bit worrisome. I have completed two novels, the first "Dirty Genes" has just been published by the miraculous technology afforded by Smashwords.

He has just finished a new novel, AN AMERICAN FABLE, and will soon publish BLOOD NEVER DRIES. Reviews of BENJAMIN GRABBED HIS GLICKEN AND RAN: from Library Journal: "One hopes BENJAMIN won't be dismissed as just another offbeat experimental novel. It is an exciting book!" from Publishers Weekly: "...Benjamin's personal story is wild, with an extraordinary made-up language and a pun-on-pun series of sentences... The novel builds to a strong, dramatic climax and the effect is chilling." from The Christian Science Monitor: "Like a child of Zeus sprung full grown from the head of their creator ... this novel has not received the attention it deserves... The novel is operating simultaneously on three planes and finally on a fourth. Benjamin as a character is oddly captivating ... virtuosic ... exacting descriptions of Benjamin's room, physical sensations, and emotions are like a zoom lens bringing one in intensely close to him. Benjamin says of his Mysteries: 'Words are only a small portion of my life... They are weak technicalities which fail... Words are only words. And besides, I lie a lot.'

As an urban child, my getaway from the noise and fast pace was escaping into the world of imagination. Is there any better place than books? My imaginary characters had everything I never could. I ran with them, changed the world, traveled across the magical unknown planets and waited for some better era to arrive. Today, I know one can change so little. But, reading the kind of fiction I write, one can recognize the present in the future, sense the loop which they plan to, with a smile, wrap around one's neck. One can make that crucial step not to be in the line while they wrap it around other people's necks. I want to show what the world might become if don't notice the traps on the road that are being placed by the ones who have that power. I'm taking you on my path that takes courage to face the imperfections of the world we're living in now and preparing you that it could be even worse if we do not expose it. I love challenges, do you?

I'm a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado. I used to skydive until I busted a knee in my 985th jump. I got through two years of college, turned eighteen, and decided that actually, I wanted to be a writer and not a doctor, a CEO, or whatever you do with a BA in Sociology. So I dropped out. Livin' the dream, baby. I'm based in New York, where I spend my days writing and my nights praying that some day my bio will start with "Tori Curtis is an award-winning, best-selling writer." If I had any free time, I would spend it hanging out with my adorable little cousins, reading personal finance books, and arguing the comparative merits of knit and crochet lace with strangers in the supermarket.
