A Fairy Tale Contract | by TJ Seitz Oct. 14, 2011 | Free! | 6150 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Fantasy Bio: The day TJ Seitz turned 43 he bought a Harley Davidson motorcycle and laptop computer. The next day he woke up, got his kids on the school bus, kissed his wife good-bye, went to work and quit his job. By 9AM he was on his way to Burlington Vermont where he met up with the 18 year old daughter of a woman he dated in college and headed for the Florida Keys. Today TJ Seitz lives on the Caribbean Island of Martinique with his young lover where he runs a small computer repair shop that caters to tourists and locals. After hours and weekends TJ can be found patronizing local cafes with his laptop or debating island politics over a bottle of cheap rum. Reality Bio: On the surface TJ Seitz appears to be a quintessential middle aged male. He’s married to his HS sweetheart and lives with his family (3 kids, a dog, 5 cats, 4 guinea pigs, a rabbit and a leopard gecko) in a suburban split level ranch located on the outskirts of Rochester, NY. TJ spent 20 years in the field of government IT before shifting his career path towards procurement. Learning why/how things work, “pushing buttons†and “stirring the pot†(instigating) have always been inherent weaknesses for Mr. Seitz so administrating computers and contracts within large bureaucracies comes natural for him. While working full time, TJ also attended college part time (and sometimes full time). To keep himself (relatively speaking) sane he majored and minored in non-technology subjects, earning a BA in English with a writing concentration from Saint John Fisher College and a MA in Social Policy Empire State College. He studied with George Saunders and Judith Kitchen (though neither teacher would probably remember him). Distractions like kicking virtual wasp’s nests on BITNET Listservs (predecessors to social networking sites like Facebook), soliciting donations for a Panty Alter fund and hanging out with a heavily medicated professional drummer named Dirtbag interfered with TJ’s ability to write anything particularly noteworthy for either class. He also attended a workshop at the Omega Institute mentored by Marge Piercy and Ira Wood. In reality the stable full time jobs have been serving as functional fronts for TJ’s secret life as a writer. They provided him with money to pay his bills and experiential material to write about. The down side of working in IT and going to college was that he did not have a lot of time to devote to writing and publishing. Adding a problematic first marriage, babies and divorce to the mix did not help much either. TJ’s essays and letters have been printed in both local and national publications. His poetry has been published both United States and England. |

The Deadly Trade | by Ken Morris Jan. 01, 2010 | $2.99 | 113377 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: Ken Morris spent his 20s learning to be a stock trader, his 30s practicing his craft at the highest levels of the world's capital markets, and his 40s writing about it. Ken is a master storyteller with a depth of experience unique in the genre of financial thrillers: He worked for Michael Milken and held high level positions with Morgan Stanley, Drexel Burnham, and Prudential-Bache. He has managed, earned, lost, and earned again millions of dollars. For more than a decade, Ken Morris was 'the man in the middle, balancing million-dollar deals and practical business considerations against legal complexities and moral considerations. And while his personal adventures weren't quite as harrowing as those of his protagonist in this novel, Ken was a 'Wall Street trading legend who played by the rules, fought the system (and won), made friends and enemies, and shook world financial markets. A Southern California native, Ken Morris obtained his undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara, and his MBA from UCLA. In the 1980s, he became a stock trader for Morgan, Stanley in New York, and by the age of 31, had become a celebrated, much sought-after trader operating at the highest levels of the world’s capital markets. In 1992, at the tender age of 39, he stunned and perplexed the financial world by turning his back entirely on Wall Street. Returning to California, he set up a part-time consulting practice, and began devoting himself to his family, to reform of the capital markets, and to writing. Man in the Middle, the first of his novels to be published, received attention from The London Times, The New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNBC’s “Kudlow & Cramer,†among others. The Deadly Trade is his second novel. He lives in Del Mar, California, with his wife, a fund manager, and their four sons. |

The Corrupt Republic | by Andrew Buck Dec. 08, 2009 | $9.95 | 294180 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Shady dealings, corruption at the highest levels of government, and the ruthless pursuit of money and power: It's politics as usual in The Corrupt Republic, the explosive new political thriller by Andrew Buck (ISBN 1449596851, http://www.thecorruptrepublic.com). Inspired by Americans' growing distrust of Wall Street and Washington, The Corrupt Republic is Buck's debut novel. It tells the all-too-believable story of one man's entry into the upper echelons of power and politics, the shocking corruption he uncovers and the lengths to which those with the most to lose will go to keep him from talking. The book's release is timely, given the vast majority of Americans -- Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike -- have become disillusioned with politicians and disgusted by the financial crisis. Buck began with a vision for a novel that drew from the nation's political divisions and the despair people felt in the face of obvious political corruption, crippling financial bailouts, a deep recession and the desire for meaningful change in Washington. But The Corrupt Republic is not just about the worst of America. Ultimately, the novel shines a light into the current financial and political darkness by introducing a main character that reflects the best of America and exemplifies the nation's ethical core and values. Readers will walk away from The Corrupt Republic with a new resolve against the marriage of business and politics and renewed hope for the future of the country. Buck is not the likely choice to write a page-turner about dirty dealings in Washington. A veteran project and program manager who worked all over the globe throughout his 20-year career, Buck now advises clients on strategic planning and organizational strategies through his firm, Global National. As he watched the rapidly changing political and financial landscape of America, Buck couldn't shake the idea for The Corrupt Republic. He began writing, and the novel quickly took shape. "Because of our current political and economic situation, and the current American mood, The Corrupt Republic lays the foundation for a compelling dialogue on the future direction of our country," said Buck. "It provides a present-day perspective to help readers understand how critical political and financial decisions affect our nation's future." Buck is now at work on a sequel to The Corrupt Republic.
