I was determined to be a writer ever since being asked to leave the Brownies for chalking on the benches. Had my first business at 19, married at 20, divorced at 30, ditched the 9-5 at 40 to work as a live-in carer, working in Europe, travelling to Australia and writing in between. Got a first in Media Writing at 50, moved to France, where I recharge my batteries and write and eat and sleep. But still have to return to Blighty every 2 weeks to earn my rent, until I can write full time!

Christmess by LC Cooper Christmess by LC Cooper Jan. 16, 2012 $1.99 50174 words
Author bio:
Lady Chatterly Cooper, or LC Cooper as she became known, remains a Lady of the '80s. Pink high-tops (autographed by Rick Springfield) and checkerboard waffle Vans (a la "Fast Times at Ridgemont High") complement her ensemble of Jane Fonda leg warmers and Madonna junk jewelry. Because she's no longer perky and petite, parachute pants are a necessity and not a lingering fashion statement. She maintains her own sense of style and grace. Her daughters, Tiffany, Farah, and Demi, and her sons, Milli, Vanilli, and Bruce don't think so. Disenchanted that she wasn't "discovered" while a groupie for Culture Club, Wild West and Wham, LC set a course for self respect and began writing. Her first book was a biography about that lovely couple, Sean Penn and Madonna. Although the project tanked, LC caught the writing bug. Gone were the days of scrawling invitations on men's-room walls. LC hit the big time when Thunderbox Press published her kiss-and-tell exposé entitled, "Speedo Libido." Although some washed-up rockers found humor in it, ("Yeah, I shagged her," Rod Stewart supposedly said, "but who didn't I bang in the '80s?"), others, such as PeeWee Herman ("she was too old for me") and George Michael ("she doesn't even look like a dude") might have been offended. VH1 canned the TV series based on the book when a test audience preferred to see Ozzy flitting around his house in a dress instead of watching LC's aged, saggy boobs flop around in her red one-piece swimsuit in slow motion on camera. Once again trashed by the music industry, brokenhearted LC withdrew from the limelight and bought a secluded ranch in The Everglades. Not able to grow much in all that muck, the stinking goo inspired her second novel, "Stick in the Mud." This satire chronicled the price-fixing practices of the Recording Industry Association of Antarctica. Thumbing its nose at consumers, governments, and free-trade around the world, the RIAA fought to suppress "Stick in the Mud." Written from a male point-of-view, the book details how the RIAA takes the consumer up a dark and dirty path where no woman can go. These days, LC enjoys spending long weekends with her David Hasselhoff inflatables. Whenever her dolls are worn out, LC manages the writing careers of her six children. When that happens, they buy her more dolls. ###

She is the award winning Fantasy author of Assassin's Apprentice and several sequels. I have one son. I named him Chance. He is currently six going on fifteen. I don't think saying 'I'm a writer' is enough to describe what I actually do. I like to entertain, and I use writing as a medium to do that. That then makes me a (and yeah, I obviously use a keyboard),... a... what's a good word? How about, a Pen-tertainer? I'm a Pentertainer ... I live in Coventry, England, but am originally from the North West of the country. I've been in Coventry for 21 years, and the hardest part was learning how to use a knife and fork and other domestic things after spending so much time up there in the frozen wastelands tearing chunks of meat off the kill after roasting it on a fire. Mind you, I'm not entirely re trained to life in the City, as quite a few people I've met down here do still talk in grunts; I'm one of the few who can understand them, and so, I work part time in the DSS claims office. (not true, but wouldn't that be so cool if it was). I myself got told off years ago by a stern faced lady in the claims office. I was on the Jobseekers/New Start course (Course? LOL), and I told my claims officer that I enjoyed going down there ... "Mr Lassut! You aren't supposed to enjoy it!" ... Her T shirt should have given it away before I opened my mouth. It read: 'I hate what I'm told to hate ... that means YOU' Last time I saw her she was in the fancy dress shop near Argos, buying a Gadaffi costume with mask. I thought she was going to a fancy dress do, but now look! ... I think she was investigating international claimant's Nat Insurance numbers, but got a little carried away. Bless her cotton socks.

Besides writing short stories, poems, and novels, she's also a mom, wife, and lackey to four cats. She's been published in several literary journals and her works have placed in numerous writing competitions. She's also judged Romance Writers of America chapter contests, even placing in a few herself. She's also an unrepentant cheat at mini-golf. If Kelley had to rate her own life, she'd have no choice but to give it a solid ten on the Scale of Fabulousity. Oh, and she likes cannoli too much. Way too much. But she's good with that. All proceeds from this author's books' sales always go to children's charities. Always. You can also read more about her and her books at her blog, So Seriously! A Complicated Christmas by Shannon O'Neil A Complicated Christmas by Shannon O'Neil Nov. 30, 2011 $0.99 24406 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
While other third graders were falling in love with recess and cartoons, Shannon O’Neil was falling in love with the art of writing. Given the ability to create entire worlds with the flick of a pen, O’Neil embarked on a journey to entertain the masses with her talent and skill. With the second edition of her debut novel, I’ll Be Home for Christmas hitting the shelves just in time for the 2009 holiday season and a sequel on the way, O’Neil is a star on the rise in the local and national writing scene. Fueled by the unique spirit of her hometown, St. Augustine, Fla., O’Neil spent her first eighteen years honing her writing skills and, along the way, picked up a few accolades to show for it. In addition to the several articles and letters that were printed in local publications, Shannon was also awarded first prize in The St. Augustine Record’s Christmas story contest in 2000. She completed her tenure as Editor-in-Chief of The Falcon Flyer at Menendez High School in 2003 when she graduated with honors and went on to achieve the second goal she dreamed up in the third grade–to attend Florida State University. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from FSU, O’Neil returned to St. Augustine in the fall of 2008. Facing the struggles of a sinking economy like everyone else, O’Neil found herself unemployed. So she turned back to her dreams of writing and penned her first novel in a few short months. Released through Lulu.com in November of 2008, Ancient City Christmas sold nearly a hundred copies in its first run. Readjusted, renamed and retooled, the novel is now headed out again through a larger publisher with a larger target audience. Pick up your copy today online at Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com or request a copy in your local bookstore. When she manages to tear herself away from her writing, O’Neil enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading some of her favorite authors, listening to music and of course, following her beloved Florida State Seminoles with reckless abandon.

Sifu Dansac's Kung Fu Secrets by Samuel Z Jones Sifu Dansac's Kung Fu Secrets by Samuel Z Jones Nov. 21, 2011 $1.50 21569 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
I'm a writer. I write primarily Fantasy, and I write a lot of it. There's an argument among Fantasy writers, and readers too, as to whether the rule "Write what you know" applies. I'm firmly of the "Write what you know" school; in my humble opinion, there is a much to be "known" about Fantasy as there is any other genre. My stories feature a lot of sword-fighting, camping and horse-riding, all of which I do indeed know enough about to write on. ABOUT MY BOOKS: Akurite Empire is a trilogy. While each book is a complete story in its own right, reading all three in sequence will be much more fun than reading one or two in random order. Romancing The Sword is a quintet (quintology?) set five years prior to the events of Akurite Empire and covering much of the back story. It is a massive epic and intended to be read as such; the story-arcs overlap from one book to another. Anonymous & Sifu These are comedies, and though they feature the character of Sifu Dansac, both can be enjoyed individually. Flame of Freedom This was a paid commission in collaboration with the scriptwriter Gabriel Murray. It is a historical novel distinct from the rest of my work. I've been writing for about ten years; I have a large back-catalogue that will be presented here as I complete final editing of each book. Although every effort is made to produce books clean of typos, some minor errors creep in. Anyone noticing such is invited to let me know so that it can be corrected. Any other feedback is also very welcome; readers can contact me via Facebook if they so desire. I'm also offering a generous 25% on the affiliate program for all my books. Got a good publicity base on-line, but only a small catalogue of books to offer? Loot mine, I have over a dozen titles and more coming out on a weekly basis.

I grew up in the fifties and sixties, and that is reflected in my books quite often. I spent twenty years in law enforcement, and traveled the world, which also can be seen in my books and stories. While the genre I write in is technically called erotic romance, what I actually write are stories with a plot, which include sexual behavior on the part of the characters. That is because most people's lives include sex and erotic gratification. And, since most people wonder about lifestyles that are sometimes called taboo, or forbidden, I write about them, occasionally too. I believe that two consenting adults know more about their own happiness than anyone else, and that even if they are mistaken, they have the right to make their own choices. I also believe that love is the key to making choices that will not turn out to be mistakes.

I make my living in the world's two lowest-paying professions: acting and writing. While my resume includes stage and screen credits, I've spent the last several years wearing armor, riding horses, and swinging swords with The Seattle Knights. My publishing credits include plays, non-fiction articles, and short stories, one of which made The StorySouth Millions Writers Award Notable Stories of 2005. I've written five--no, six--novels to date, sold three of them in 2002, and am now re-releasing them under my own imprint, TFA Press. I am currently working on a non-fiction project. I also sing and write songs for A Little Knight Music and The Badb. If I had free time (which I don't), I'd spend it with horses. I'm married to artist/fight director Dameon Willich.

Before becoming a full-time fiction writer, Rick spent nearly twenty-five years in Corporate America. After a hungry stint as a fresh-faced, straight-from-college stockbroker, he set aside the glamour of Wall Street, along with the thousands of friends he’d made during dinner-hour cold calls, for a career as an Accounting Assistant in the Seattle office of a large reinsurance company. Once on the corporate ladder, Rick proved that his many childhood years spent climbing trees hadn’t been a complete waste of time by quickly climbing to the position of department manager. But corporate winds are no less predictable than any other type of wind, and climbing in the wind is never a good idea. Rick suddenly found himself on the wrong side of the country when his company was forced to scale back its operations ten years later. They regrouped in New England. He remained in the Northwest. Waving good-bye to the moving vans as they motored down the road and disappeared into the distance, Rick carefully considered his next career. He became a corporate consultant and ran himself happily ragged for the next nine years. Traveling the country and racking up more frequent flyer miles than even a CPA could conveniently count, Rick helped his clients work through a variety of business issues, including liquidity problems, external reporting matters, process mapping, and workflow concerns. Rick’s final years in Corporate America were spent at one of the major insurance groups. As a VP, Controller, and then an acting CFO, he traveled from one coast to the other putting the lessons he’d learned during his time as a consultant to good use. His current career as a fiction writer takes him to places much further away than any cross-country jetliner ever could, and he seldom needs to leave his writing loft to get there.
